About Me

The Heart Behind Gridstop Crafts

Hello! I’m Harrison, an independent gear creator based in the beautiful city of Ottawa, Canada. My adventure into the world of sewing began a few years ago, sparked by a simple need for pedal straps for my bike. While buying them would have been the easier route, I saw an opportunity to challenge myself—to create something on my own. As a result, this decision launched me into a journey filled of constant sewing projects, from specialized gear to bespoke clothing.

Sewing, for me, is more than a hobby; it’s a passion that, despite life’s busy moments, I find myself continually drawn back to. It’s a craft that has not only honed my skills but also ignited a deep-seated love for creating functional, durable items with my own hands.

Why Gridstop?

In my quest to work with various fabrics, one stood out significantly: Gridstop. Its unparalleled durability, coupled with its lightweight nature and water resistance, makes it a dream material for any gear creator. The fabric's unique blend of toughness and versatility, thanks to the integration of UHMWPE fibers, has made it my go-to choice for projects that demand the highest quality.
However, sourcing Gridstop, especially here in Canada, proved to be a challenge. Recognizing the potential to support fellow enthusiasts and the broader creator community, I launched this site. While my ultimate goal is to showcase my finished products, I’m starting by offering Gridstop fabric to others who share my appreciation for its exceptional qualities.

A Work in Progress

As Gridstop Crafts grows, I'm learning and adapting. Your support and patience mean the world to me as I navigate this journey, figuring out supply dynamics and responding to your favorites among our color offerings. It’s an exciting process, determining which hues resonate most and deserve a spot in my regular lineup.

Thank you for being part of this adventure. Whether you’re here to browse, buy, or find inspiration, know that you’re supporting a dream deeply rooted in a love for craftsmanship and the great outdoors.

  With gratitude,
Harrison
